Khashuri
Khashuri is the main junction of the east–west railway and highway and the gateway to the Borjomi Gorge, with the Surami Pass rising directly above town.
Market: Soviet-era apartments, houses with yards and country houses on the Surami side. Prices are low; demand comes from transit traffic, people working towards Borjomi and the town's proximity to the capital.
Location: 1.5–2 hours from Tbilisi by train or car, and 20–25 minutes to Borjomi. The road towards Bakuriani also runs from here, and the Rikoti Pass is nearby.
Before buying, check the heating and the condition of the building: winters are cold and older housing stock often needs energy-efficiency upgrades. On sivrce, Khashuri appears under the Shida Kartli filter.
Frequently asked questions
Why do buyers choose Khashuri over Borjomi?
Prices are much lower, and Borjomi is 20–25 minutes away. Anyone who works in the gorge or travels there regularly can get in more cheaply in Khashuri.
Can a country house in Khashuri be used in winter?
Many country houses on the Surami side are adapted for year-round living, but winter is hard without heating and water, so check before you buy.
